NLC India Limited—formerly known as Neyveli Lignite Corporation—has awarded a major solar module supply contract to domestic manufacturer Vikram Solar. Under the agreement announced on 27 October 2026, Vikram Solar will supply 289.87 megawatt-peak (MWp) of high-efficiency solar modules to this Navratna public sector enterprise.
Specifically, the modules will power NLC India’s 810 MW solar power project located at the RUVN Solar Park in Pugal, Bikaner, Rajasthan. Consequently, this contract reinforces domestic clean energy manufacturing while advancing India’s renewable capacity addition targets.

Additionally, local sourcing supports the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) mandate. Thus, the project aligns closely with the government’s Make in India initiative across the green energy sector.
Expanding Rajasthan’s Solar Footprint
Meanwhile, Rajasthan continues to strengthen its position as India’s premier hub for solar energy generation. By installing high-performance modules in high-solar-irradiance zones, NLC India aims to finalise full commissioning by March 2027 to boost grid distribution.
Ultimately, this partnership marks another milestone in India’s transition toward its target of 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. Therefore, the timely execution of this utility-scale installation will bolster national grid stability and decarbonisation goals.
