NTPC joins hands with GGL for green Hydrogen blending in Piped Natural Gas

Continuing with its focus on clean energy, NTPC has inked pact with Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) to blend green hydrogen in Piped Natural Gas(PNG). To be produced using electricity generated from the 1 MW floating solar project, Green hydrogen will be blended in PNG.

The floating solar project comes under the umbrella of NTPC Kawas and it will be used in NTPC Kawas Township for cooking applications. Initially the only 5% Hydrogen blending in PNG will be done and this percentage will be increased gradually after successful completion of the project.

A step towards decarbonisation , the NTPC Kawas hydrogen blending project is one of a kind in the country. The NTPC group plans to achieve 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity in the next one decade and it’s has several pilot projects in the green hydrogen segment.
