SECI partners with Madhya Pradesh Government for 200 MW Solar project in Dhar

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to develop a 200 MW solar power project in Dhar. Additionally, a 1000 MWh battery storage project will be set up under the CPSU Scheme. The MoU was signed during the ongoing Global Investors Summit 2025 in Bhopal, which is being held from February 24 to 25, 2025.

The summit, organized by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, with the Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, also in attendance.

The MoU was formally signed by Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) of SECI, and Manu Srivastava, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (NRE) of Madhya Pradesh, in the presence of Rakesh Shukla, Minister of New & Renewable Energy of Madhya Pradesh, and R P Gupta, IAS (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of SECI.

The 200 MW solar project is part of a larger 500 MW agreement signed in 2023 with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL), which spans a 25-year period. As part of this agreement, SECI will provide electricity to the state. SECI has also proposed a phased investment of Rs 2500 crore to further expand and develop renewable energy infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh.

The summit brought together key stakeholders from the Government of India, as well as international and state-level representatives, underscoring the importance of renewable energy in shaping the future of the state and nation.
