Launched on 5th April 2016 the Stand-Up India scheme has been a key contributor in economic empowerment, promoting entrepreneurship and job creation over the years. Sharing her views on the 7th anniversary of this scheme, the Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said this scheme provides a supportive environment to spur entrepreneurship.

According to her, this scheme has turned out to be an important landmark in encouraging SC, ST and women for entrepreneurship and that it’s giving wings to aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their entrepreneurial acumen.

Under this scheme loans for more than Rs 40,600 crore have been sanctioned for SC/ST entrepreneurs and 1.8 lakh women in the last seven years. According to Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad, the scheme is based on “Funding the unfunded”, that’s the third pillar of National Mission for Financial Inclusion.
