Tata Motors launches Harrier.ev to redefine premium Electric SUV Space

Tata Motors has taken another leap in India’s electric mobility journey with the launch of the Harrier.ev, an all-electric iteration of its popular SUV. Priced from ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model boasts a driving range of up to 500 km, placing it firmly in competition with premium internal combustion engine (ICE) SUVs.

Aimed at expanding its reach in the high-end SUV segment, Tata Motors is positioning the Harrier.ev as an option for both urban drivers and off-road adventurers.  “The high SUV category is seeing rapid growth. We saw an opportunity to introduce an EV that’s high on performance, rugged capability, and comfort,” said Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.

The Harrier.ev features two battery pack options, including a 75 kWh variant, and delivers 504 Nm of torque through an all-wheel-drive system. Equipped with features like auto park assist, six terrain modes, and over 55 connected technologies, the model also comes with a lifetime battery warranty, reinforcing Tata’s confidence in its EV platform.

Chandra emphasized that the Harrier.ev addresses common EV concerns like charging speed and driving range. He highlighted that it offers a genuine alternative to petrol and diesel SUVs—without compromises.

“This isn’t just another EV—it’s a better, more refined choice than many ICE models. It blends advanced features with superior convenience, performance, and luxury,” he added.

Tata Motors currently commands a 25% market share in the high SUV category, thanks to the success of models like the Harrier and Safari. With SUVs now accounting for 54% of total passenger vehicle sales in India, the company expects the Harrier.ev to strengthen its presence in a highly competitive space.

Although Tata’s EV sales dipped by 10% in FY25, with 65,000 units sold, the company remains a dominant player in India’s electric vehicle landscape.

“From pioneering SUVs in the 1990s to transforming the EV space today, innovation has been our constant driver. The Harrier.ev sets a new benchmark for what Indian electric SUVs can deliver,” Chandra said.
