India unlocks with new guidelines

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued new guidelines related to the re-opening of activities in phases for the areas outside the containment zones as lockdown 5.0 started from June 1. The current phase of the reopening of economic activities has been named Unlock 1.

Unlock 1 is focussed on the gradual opening of economic activities. According to the new guidelines, the opening of religious places, hotels, hospitality services, restaurants, and malls have been permitted from June 8. Later schools and colleges and various other educational, coaching, and training institutions will also be opened after states and UTs agree on it.

The state governments and UTs have been advised to hold consultations with parents at institution level and involve all the other stakeholders and based on their feedback any decision in this regard will be taken. Currently, some activities like air travel, metro rail operations, movie theatres, gym, swimming pools, bars, auditoriums, etc shall remain prohibited in unlock 1 all throughout the country.

Apart from all these social, entertainment, political, academic, sports, cultural and other large congregation shall remain prohibited in Unlock 1. There are no restrictions on the interstate or intrastate movement of goods and persons.Β  No separate approval, permission, and e-permit is required. However, states or UTs can regulate the activities on reasons concerning public health.
