Coal Ministry expedites Mine Tourism, Greening Activities over reclaimed land

The Coal Ministry has expedited its efforts towards developing Eco-Parks on the reclaimed land. In its bid to promote mine tourism, it has recently constructed eight eco-parks in various locations across the country. It has further aimed to complete two more parks in 2022-23.

Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi recently inaugurated Bal Gangadhar Tilak Eco-Park of WC and the NLCIL has entered in an MOU with Pondicherry Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) for the promotion of eco-tourism at Mine-I and Mine-II, besides showcasing sustainable mining activities.

Among the other major MOUs, include the MOU between Madhya Pradesh Tourism board and NCL to boost Singrauli Eco-Tourism Circuit. Apart from these one MOU is there between WCL and Directorate of Tourism, Maharashtra for the promotion of eco-tourism on the reclaimed land. Continuing with their greening activities from January to November this year,  the Coal and Lignite PSUs have also planted over 47 lakh saplings on 2300 Ha land.
