Debt Issuances Drive Heavy Corporate Capital Raising
Significantly, debt market instruments spearheaded the overall primary market expansion throughout the month. Debt issuances surged by 142 per cent over May levels, reaching ₹2.59 lakh crore.
Primary Drivers of Debt Capital:
-
Commercial Papers (CPs): Issuances more than doubled to reach ₹1.9 lakh crore.
-
Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs): Privately placed NCDs increased sharply to nearly ₹69,700 crore.
-
Corporate Borrowing Demand: Corporations aggressively sought short-term liquidity and long-term working capital.
Consequently, debt instruments accounted for the vast majority of total funds raised across the national exchanges.
