Goa achieves the distinction of becoming first ‘Har Ghar Jal State’
Goa has become the first state in the country with ‘Har Ghar Jal State’ tag after it successfully completed its mission of providing tap water connection to every rural household. It has established water connection in over two lakh 30 thousand rural households, out of which 65 thousand rural households have been provided water tap connections in North Goa while 98 thousand rural households in 191 Gram Panchayats have been fitted with water tap connections in South Goa. According to Jal Shakti Ministry, the other states must emulate the example set by Goa especially in these troubling times of the pandemic. The Ministry is also planning for sensor-based monitoring of service delivery to ensure seamless functionality of water supply.
