Railways achieves 18% increase in freight loading

The Ministry of Railways has informed to have registered an 18% increase in freight in the month of October vis-à-vis the same period last year. It has also earned revenue from freight about Rs 250 crore higher than the last year during the same period. It has already loaded over 26 million tonnes of freight in the first week of October. According to the Ministry a number of concessions and discounts have been doled out to make the movement of freight very attractive and the initiative has been taken in line with the Indian Railway’s commitment towards treating COVID-19 as an opportunity to improve its all-round performance and efficiency.
