Amid worsening COVID-19 situation in the country, the manufacturers of Remdesivir have been directed to prioritise their supplies to fulfil the hospitals’ requirements and approximately 4 lakh vials of Remdesivir meant for Export is being diverted to meet the domestic requirement. Moreover, the manufactures of Remdesivir have also volunteered to reduce the price of this life-saving injection to support PM Modi’s efforts towards the fight against the pandemic.

The DCGI has also directed the enforcement authorities of central government and states to take immediate action on any incidence of black-marketing, hoarding or overcharging for this drug.

These actions have been taken after the issue of availability of Remedesivir was reviewed by Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways (Independent Charge) and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya in meetings with the existing manufactures as well as the other stakeholders.
