Govt launches Rs 10,000 crore NCDC Ayushman Sahakar Fund for Healthcare Infra

The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has come up with Rs 10,000 crore NCDC Ayushman Sahakar Fund to strengthen healthcare infrastructure through cooperatives. Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of. Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Food Processing Industries, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj launched this fund as well as Ayushman Sahakar Fund to help cooperative create the necessary healthcare infrastructure.

Under this designated fund the the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) would provide term loans to the cooperatives, said the Minister adding that the pandemic has highlighted the need for more such facilities. The scheme will turn out to be a major boost for the welfare activities for the farmers in the current time of the pandemic. Ayushman Sahakar covers modernization, repairs, expansion, and renovation of healthcare, education, and hospital infrastructure that will encompass hospitals, pharmacy colleges, and similar nursing and dental institutions running UG and PG programs, besides wellness centre, yoga, Ayurveda, homeopathy, and various other healthcare centres.

The scheme also includes providing healthcare services for the elderly, palliative care services, healthcare services for the disabled, services of mental healthcare, trauma centre, blood bank services, diagnostics, and laboratory services, among others.
