Increased efforts to enhance coal production underway

Committed to enhance the coal production, the Government has taken various actions which include auction of commercial mining and approval of the sale of excess coal production, besides single window clearance among others. The initiative for total two tranches have been completed under which total 28 coal mines have been auctioned and the vesting order for 27 coal mines have been signed.
As part of the policy initiatives, the Coal ministry has amended Mineral Concession Rules, 1960 and the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Act. Through these steps the Government has paved the way for the release of additional coal.
The Union government has also launched Single Window Clearance portal to speed up the operationalisation of coal mines. The complete process shall be initiated through Single Window Clearance. The ministry has altogether identified 15 projects valued at one Billion Tonne from CIL mines. Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs provided all these information in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
