India, Singapore and Australia jointly organised international workshop on combating marine pollution

Government of India together with the Government of Australia and Government of Singapore organised an international workshop on combating marine pollution. The workshop held virtually focused on marine plastic debris and it bought together leading  scientists, policy experts and industry representatives. The event also discussed research interventions towards assessing and monitoring marine litter apart from plausible sustainable solutions. The event aimed at addressing global marine plastic pollution.

With four major sessions; the workshop also saw discussions on assessing the magnitude of the marin-monitoring program besides research on plastic debris in the Indo-Pacific Region.

The experts also discussed solutions to prevent plastic pollution; practices and technologies; and polymers and plastics. Technology, opportunities and innovations for regional collaboration in order to stop plastic pollution.

The event had panel discussions, breakout and interactive sessions to encourage discussion among  East Asia Summit countries (EAS). EAS is the premier forum for discussions on strategic issues in Indo-Pacific. It’s a leading mechanism to build confidence.

After it’s inception in 2005, the EAS has been advocating regional peace, security, closer regional cooperation and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean region.
