J&K LG unveils Rs 28, 400 cr package for industrial development in twin UTs

Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced a Rs 28,400 crore mega Industrial development package approved by Government of India in the twin UTs. He said the package is targeted at offering a boost to the industrial sector in J&K by setting up new units and creating 4.5 lakh jobs in the next 17 years up to 2037 till when the package will remain in force.

He added that the package demonstrates the commitment of Government of India towards growth, prosperity and employment in J&K. He said the industrial package will pave way for outside investment as well, besides creating employment. Even the package will turn out to be a big relief for the existing industrialists as well as the manufacturing units and the service sector. The LG also said in 2023, the people of J&K will also travel in metro, while a committee is already examining the 4-G internet services restoration in the remaining 18 districts of J&K.
