MoHUA recognises cleanest cities and states of  India

In a virtual event ‘Swachh Mahotsav’ organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)  Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand were adjudged winners in the cleanest states in the > 100 ULB and in  <100 ULB categories in India. In a similar manner,  Indore was adjudged the Cleanest City of India, Surat won the second position in >1 lakh population category, and Navi Mumbai was adjudged third under this category.

Hardeep S Puri, MoS (I/C), MoHUA gave away these coveted awards on the basis of the annual cleanliness urban survey Swachh Survekshan 2020. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the country is on its way to become Atmanirbhar New India which is ‘Swasth’, ‘Sashakt’ ‘Sampann’ apart from being ‘Swachh’. Over 117 additional awards were also given away by the minister. The online event was attended by Swachhta warriors in large numbers apart from secretary MoHUA, Durga Shankar Mishra, besides principal secretaries and municipal commissioners among others. Puri said that in the last five years, we have seen how this mission has created a deep impact on people’s health, livelihoods, quality of life. and most importantly, in their thoughts and behaviour.
