NTPC achieves record coal production and despatch in April 2023

NTPC, the largest integrated power producer in India, reported a significant increase in coal production from its captive mines in April 2023, with a growth rate of 148% compared to the production in April 2022. The company produced 2.75 million metric tonnes (MMT) of coal in April 2023, compared to 1.11 MMT in April 2022. Moreover, NTPC achieved its highest-ever monthly coal despatch of 2.95 MMT in April 2023, representing a 140% increase over the 1.23 MMT despatched in April 2022..2 million tonnes of coal in FY23

Four operational coal mines  of NTPC produced  23.2 million tonnes of coal in FY23, indicating a growth rate of 65% compared to the 14.02 million tonnes produced a year ago. This remarkable progress is attributable to the mining teams’ digitization initiatives, which have enhanced operational excellence and safety in mining operations.

e-SMP has also been implemented by NTPC. e-SMP is the management plan of  a digitalized safetyand a mobile app for safety, Sachetan. NTPC Group has an installed capacity of 71,644MW.
