ONDC progress assessed in a meeting by Piyush Goyal in New Delhi

All State Governments have been directed to create awareness about the utility of Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has asked to devise programs in collaboration with state governments so that they are able to take full advantage of this open network.

Goyal chaired a meeting in New Delhi to assess the progess of ONDC since its launch across five cities in April this year. According to Goyal,the basic purpose of ONDC is to assist undigitized and small traders in transforming themselves in digitized to avail the opportunities provided by the e-commerce ecosystem.

He said the reason why the existing e-commerce platforms are popular is that they are consumer focused and have created trust due to consumer friendly policies. Goyal said ONDC must work in cooperation with industry associations and traders to implement the network at the ground level.

The meeting was also attended by Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman QCI, Anil Agrawal, Additional Secretary, DPIIT, Anurag Jain, Secretary, DPIIT and T Koshy, MD & CEO of ONDC, among others
