Passenger Carriage by Domestic Airlines Surges by 42.85% in India

The domestic airline industry in India has witnessed an exceptional surge in passenger numbers, reaching a new milestone of 503.92 lakhs. This achievement reflects a remarkable annual growth rate of 42.85% compared to the same period last year, when the passenger count stood at 352.75 lakhs.

The substantial increase in passenger carriage highlights the resilience and robustness of India’s aviation sector. It underscores the industry’s continuous efforts to enhance connectivity and offer convenient travel options to the country’s populace. The escalating demand for air travel signifies the positive trajectory of the aviation industry and its promising future.

Furthermore, the month-on-month growth rate between April 2022 and April 2023 stands at an impressive 22.18%. This sustained momentum is a testament to the collaborative endeavors of airlines, airports, and the Ministry of Civil Aviation in establishing a safe, efficient, and customer-centric aviation ecosystem.

Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable growth of the aviation sector. He conveyed, “The concerted efforts of all stakeholders have been pivotal in driving the expansion of the aviation industry and positioning India as a global aviation hub. We are delighted to witness the consistent growth of the domestic airline industry, which not only bolsters our economy but also connects people across the nation. The Ministry remains committed to creating a conducive environment for the aviation industry to flourish. We will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to foster sustainable growth and ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and passenger satisfaction.”
