PM inaugurates Yashobhoomi Convention Center and unveils Artisan Empowerment Scheme

In a momentous event , Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Phase 1 of the India International Convention and Expo Centre, known as ‘Yashobhoomi,’ to the nation in Dwarka, New Delhi. Simultaneously, he launched the ‘PM Vishwakarma Scheme,’ complete with its logo, tagline, and portal, a significant step in supporting traditional artisans and craftspeople on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.

In his address to the gathering, the Prime Minister extended his appreciation to the Shramiks and Vishwakarmas for their crucial role in constructing this magnificent facility. He stated, “Today, I dedicate ‘Yashobhoomi’ to every worker of the country, to every Vishwakarma.” The Prime Minister expressed that ‘Yashobhoomi’ would serve as a vibrant hub connecting the creations of artisans with global markets.

Highlighting the significance of ‘Yashobhoomi,’ he emphasized that it would become a prestigious venue for events, assuring success and fame for any occasion held there. The Prime Minister envisioned ‘Yashobhoomi’ as a medium for showcasing India’s future.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister underlined the importance of a world-class center in the capital city to showcase India’s economic prowess and commercial strength, emphasizing its multimodal connectivity and alignment with PM Gatishakti. He also mentioned the newly inaugurated Metro terminal, which enhances the center’s accessibility, travel, accommodation, and tourism facilities.

Prime Minister Modi predicted that Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi Center would transform Delhi into the premier hub for conference tourism, potentially generating employment for countless youth. He envisaged ‘Yashobhoomi’ as a venue where international conferences, meetings, and exhibitions from countries worldwide would convene.

Inviting stakeholders to ‘Yashobhoomi,’ the Prime Minister extended an invitation to Exhibition and Event industry professionals from around the world, as well as the Film and TV Industry from all regions of India, to utilize the venue for various events.

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, commended the Prime Minister’s leadership during challenging times, which ensured the success of the G20 summit across the nation, now referred to as the “Modi-fied G20.”

Goyal hailed ‘Yashobhoomi’ as a testament to the Prime Minister’s vision of “Skill, speed, and scale” and highlighted its rapid completion under his leadership. He announced plans for the expansion of the project’s second phase, doubling its size. The convention center in Dwarka exemplifies the PM Gatishakti ideal, with expressway access to the International Airport, 20-minute metro connectivity to Connaught Place, and ample linked hotels.

Over the past nine years, the establishment of world-class convention centers across the country has been ongoing, with ‘Bharat Mandapam’ and ‘Yashobhoomi’ set to boost trade, industry, export, and employment. Additionally, ‘Yashobhoomi’ will serve as a catalyst for the MSME sector, farmers, and artisans, providing new opportunities and markets.

Goyal acknowledged the Prime Minister’s dedication to making India a developed nation through economic and infrastructure development, poverty alleviation, digitization, and the pursuit of a corruption-free government. He underscored the government’s commitment to simplifying laws, supporting startups, increasing trade and exports, creating employment opportunities, and instilling confidence in the nation’s people. He also celebrated the historic launch of the Vishwakarma Yojana, designed to honor and strengthen artisans.
