Qatar removes ban on frozen seafood import from india

Paving the way for improved export and better bilateral relations with West Asian country, Qatar has lifted the temporary ban on frozen seafood import from India.

Last year in the month of November, just before the FIFA World Cup, this ban was imposed after the alleged detection of Vibrio cholera from some of the consignments from India.

Even though the ban is lifted, the restrictions still continues on chilled seafood export. DV Swami, Chairman, MPEDA said that the ban on the export of chilled seafood will also be lifted soon after the situation is reassessed. Recently Beijing has also lifted ban on the export of 99 Indian exporters of seafood.
